The first time I load BJ Pro I have no problems. However everytime I exit BJ Pro and attempt to go back in it, it fails to come up. I have to do a HW reset in order for it to work again.

Anyone else has these problems?

I am having the exact same problem with my IPAQ 2215 and BJ Pro as noted above by Chasgiv3. Anything you can do for us?

Also, I purchased the windows version and downloaded it. However, when it starts to run the winzip self-extractor, it hangs up every time and does nothing so cannot install the program. Downloaded it twice just to try it again and same problem.

I am not sure what to say or do regarding the Pocket PC version. I am not able to duplicate the problem and as such I'm afraid I'm not able to do anything about it.

As for the Windows version, this is usually a problem when a previous application had problems with its installation and has not properly cleaned up the system. In this case I would recommend using WinZip or so to extract all the files explicitely into a dedicated directory and then start the setup.exe from there.

Just FYI, I'm using a Toshiba e755 with Mobile 2003, and I have the same problem of having to reset to play again.

This is all very strange, especially given the fact that the game just went through Microsoft's "Designed for Windows(r) for Pocket PC 2003" certification program last week and passed without any problems. You would expect such a rigorous test procedure to catch problems like this.

Very strange... do you maybe have any utilities installed that could interfere? Taskswitchers, Taskbars, GUI_Extensions or something like that?

Okay, here's an idea to try out...

In the game's directory on your Pocket PC there is a file called GX.DLL. Please rename this file too FOO.DLL and then start the game again to see if the problem is still there.

I am having the same problem on my ipaq 1945. I did the recommended file change, but it still will not restart after I quit without a reset. It seems to also remain active in memory after I quit out, and there in no way to completely close it down I got this error when trying to remove and reinstall it after first experiencing the problem.

I have same problem. Noticed memory leak, it doesn't release memory when the game quits.
I do not have any other software installed. Unit has factory default configurations ( iPaq 2215).

Windows automatically releases all memory when an application terminates, so a memory leak is not possible to that effect. However, if Windows never releases the application, of course, it woul never release the memory that is associated with it either.

Interesting.... so it seems as if the application is simply not terminating properly, which, of course, should not happen.

The problem does seem to be from an improper shut down, almost like the program isn't exiting at all, but some how the interface dissappears, this may be why it won't start back up again without a reset. Will there be a fix for this in the future? I love your program, and it has greatly improved my counting techniques.

Is there any FIX? Or at least working on it?

Where can I found info about "Designed for Windows(r) for Pocket PC 2003" certification program.
I believe there are only couple of Pocket2003 devices, iPaq 2210,5550 and dell.
If this software went through MS's Cert. prgram, this software should be tested on those devices.

The problem look so obvious, memory does not released when program quits, whichever (BJP or MS Mobile2003) does it.

If whoever performing "Disgn for windows----" didn't notice this issue running Blackjack Pro software on iPaq2210, they probaly does not doing their job right.

No, there is not fix. We do not have access to any PPC 2003 devices and are therefore currently unable to make any corrections to solve the problem, I'm afraid.

As for the certification, I agree with you absolutely. A program should not slip through certification with a problem like this. But that is, of course, not up to me.

I am having the same problem with a Dell Axim X5. The blackjack won't start after I exited the program and had only used it ONCE. I registered the product and it ran fine on the first run. I'm not having any problems with the video poker though. Any suggestions?

As the others suggest, simply try to soft-reset the Pocket PC. After that the game seems to be running again. We currently do not have a fix or patch for this problem.

This problem will only get bigger. I have this on my older systems. I have given these to my wife and kids. I just paid and lic it again for my iPaq 2215 running PPC 2003.

Since you know of the problem there should have been a notice before I paid. Re-booting the system is not the correct answer.

The fact that you say you don't having any plans to fix is a little scary. Since every new system sold is going to PPC 2003 you need to fix it.

I'm willing to wait if your working on it. However if you have no plans I'll uninstall it, ask for a refund and look for a competing product.

I'm having trouble getting Black Jack Pro to work properly. I'm using a 128MB, SanDisk, CF card, in my Ipaq 5450, running Pocket PC 2003. It took several times before it finally loaded. Now, everytime it comes on it wants me to re-register. The program also won't completely shut down. I need to use the re-set button to close the it.

A new password/key seems to have fixed the problem. Thank you

@Guido

Are there any news on this VERY ANNOYING BUG with BJ Pro and Windows Mobile 2003?

QUOTE:
"No, there is not fix. We do not have access to any PPC 2003 devices and are therefore currently unable to make any corrections to solve the problem, I'm afraid."

If you still don't have any Windows Mobile 2003 device, I would recommend to do the following like I did:
practice a little bit with BJ Pro, travel to Las Vegas and win some money at BJ. Then you can buy such a device and fix this bug easily.

We ALL (Chasgiv3, Exbanker, Nealwj3, Devlin, Skim, Mikel, Drparker) are waiting for your comments on this ...!

Thanks and have a nice day,
CoolWolf

This is just a quick note to let everyone know that a new version of the game is now ready for download in our Downloads Section. This new version addresses and resolves the issues that occurred with a number of Pocket PC 2003 devices. I am sorry that it took so long to get this problem resolved but as I pointed out earlier, it took some time for us to obtain a Pocket PC 2003 device from Microsoft.
